Note: For the entire Freedom Jump 2008 event, we will be staying in the beautiful DAN GARDENS HOTEL AT ASHKELON

 

Saturday  - 3rd May  - Opening of Freedom Jump Event!
Arrival and transfer to the Hotel DAN GARDENS AT ASHKELON
 - Groups: Assistance at Airport by YOAV (for groups only, individuals arriving at varying times will need to travel on their own expenses and rendezvous at 20.00 at the Hotel)

 - Welcome drink offered by the DAN GARDENS Hotel Management at Ashkelon

 - Diner and evening lecture

 

Sunday - 4th May

Airborne School Refresher Course & Special Demos
- Refresher training to all the jump participants (Both Palmachim & Water Jumps) at the IDF Airborne School at Tel Nof Israeli Air Force Base
- The guests of the Freedom Jump participants will join the jumpers at the Airborne School for lunch and a special military demonstration of OKETZ (Anti-terror K-9 unit).
- At the hotel special training with the commandos of the KAPAP Academy
- Relax at the hotel then Dinner

Monday - 5th May

Palmachim JUMP (Static Line & Free Fall)

Honoring the 60 years of the Israeli Airborne School at Palmachim, the I.D.F. and our fellow Paratroopers from around the world.
- Static Line Jumpers will jump from an IAF  C-130 Hercules. We will use T-10 chutes (round canopy) at an altitude of 1200 feet

- The Free Fallers will jump from an altitude of 10.500 feet (Bring your personal chutes!!). Jumper guests are allowed to assist to the jump
- The same day : Separate Water Jump  Exercises Preparation for 8th May.
The same day the "Water Jumpers" of the 8th May will train water jump exercises preparation. Jumper guests will be able to assist to the exercises!
- Lunch & Dinner will be provided

 

Tuesday - 6th May

"South to the Negev!" Special Program
- Start off with a visit to Kibbutz YAD MORDECHAY located 10 km south of Ashkelon. This will offer visitors a chance to see historical sites from the 1948 War of Independence and a unique site which reconstructs the heroic battle against the Egyptian army.
- Visit The Holocaust and Heroism Museum that recounts the continual historic flow of events that Jewish people went through. From the Holocaust to the establishment of the State of Israel (Our Airborne friend from Denmark F. Korczak will play for us (bagpipes) at the Mordechai Anilewitz Monument (bronze statue of the commander of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. We will also get a view on the city of Gaza, Beith Hanoun and the Kiboutzim in this area.
- After the lunch will visit the checkpoint cross border between Gaza Strip and Israel. Lecture with an IDF officer is planned.
- Tour the extraordinary fish farming industry in the desert near the Egyptian border at Kibbutz Mashabei Sadeh. - Visit the spectacular Ramon Crater at Mitzpeh Ramon. (Depending on time!)
- Visit to Sde Boker the home and tombs of David Ben Gurion, (Israel's first Prime Minister) and his wife, Paula.  He declared the creation of the State of Israel!
- Extraordinary panoramic view of the Desert of Tzin, crossed by the Hebrews during the Exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land.
- At 15:30  Jeep trip crossing the Negev canyons - Special dinner under Beduin Tent
- Return to DAN GARDENS Hotel in Ashkelon.

 

Wednesday - 07th May

Latrun and Paratrooper's Battle Tactics in Jerusalem

- Visit the Memorial of the Armored Corps in Latrun (Truly a fantastic museum for any military aficionado).
- Jerusalem, tour the Old City to show you how the IDF Paratroopers captured it during the Six Day War in 1967.
- Visit to the important Ammunition Hill (Givat Hatahmoshet) battle site.
- Dinner at DAN GARDENS Hotel
- At the end of the Memorial Day (sundown) we will celebrate and enjoy the 60th anniversary of Yom HaAtsma’ut – Israel Independence Day which will include an International Parade of all the FREEDOM JUMPERS to the Ashkelon public special ceremony and event. (Bring a good uniform - USA Jumpers in Tri-Color DCU's with Berets)

 

Thursday – 08th May 

Water Jump & Wings Award Ceremony

- Early morning Water Jump - Honoring the 60 years of Israeli independence, the I.D.F., and our brother Paratroopers around the world. 
- The Aerobatic Israeli Air Forces demo while our Static Line Jumpers will "waterjump" from an IAF C-130 Hercules We will use T-10 chutes (round canopy) at an altitude of 1200 feet in to the Mediteranian of Ashkelon, assisted by Israeli Navy Forces.
Traditional and Special "Seashores au Champagne" by our Brothers of the French UNP Delegation !!!
- Lunch all together at the DAN Gardens Hotel
- Evening - Special Gala Dinner for Freedom Jumper's and their guests with officials of the Municipality of Ashkelon, Government officials and IDF officers for the IDF Wings Award Ceremony. Folksongs, music and dancing

 

Friday – 09th May
Departure

Off to Ben Gurion International Airport and bid farewell to comrades for their trip home. AIRBORNE!

* All the info will be release to your country Freedom Jump representative. [see contacts]

* For the Military Jumps, the maximum age is 70 years old and there is a possibility to have a Jump Master assisted exit in case of non-ability. (please inquire if needed)

* Please bring a nice combat uniform for the ceremonies.  For those delegates from foreign countries, please sync up and have matching combat uniform.  [As an example the U.S. delegate will be wearing tri-color Desert DCU's with desert insignia and berets as this is the most common across the group.
